Kristin Stapleton was elected chair of the Faculty Senate and Jaclyn E. Bodack was elected chair of the Professional Staff Senate in recent elections held by the governance groups representing UB’s faculty and professional staff.

Both are filling two-year terms that run from July 1 through June 30, 2027.

Stapleton, professor and chair of the Department of History, ran unopposed.

The Faculty Senate’s secretary position is currently filled by Turquessa Francis, clinical assistant professor, assistant director of occupational therapy and academic fieldwork coordinator in the OT program, Department of Rehabilitation Science. The position will be up for election next year.

Bodack, senior systems analyst, Office of Information Resources, School of Dental Medicine, also ran unopposed.

Other officers elected by PSS members were Michele Gliss Poitras, assistant director, Employee Engagement and Success, Human Resources, as vice chair and Josh Altemoos, resource management specialist, Business Services, School of Nursing, as secretary.
